Nursery care is offered for children up to three years old for the Sunday Worship services. Nursery workers provide a loving and safe environment. It is a place where children can experience the love of God and Jesus through others. Child care is also available on request for most church activities.

In the pre-youth group children can interact with individuals in the church community while also accomplishing mission work, social outings, and much more! In our loving and safe environment, preteens can form great habits that will stay with them for life. The Tweener’s fellowship group meets monthly for fun social and mission events (September-June).
By having their own gathering space during Sunday morning worship, our youth have the chance to creatively design their own worship experience. Developmentally, 6th-12th graders are examiners, questioners, and scrutinize-rs; they are no longer simply convinced nor placated by the phrase, “because I said so.” It is for this reason that we encourage our youth to become explorers of our Christian and Methodist traditions; fleshing out what is important to them, and laying aside what isn’t.
Our youth, interestingly, still hold to many Methodist liturgical practices, yet have created expressions of them that are truly their own. Our Love Feast for example, is taken with milk and cookies, the Worship Assistants are called the “sponsors” of our time together, and they get to choose the order and flow of the time together. And their teaching time doesn’t come in the form of top-down preaching, but instead as readings, poems, videos, and music, all with reflective discussion led by the youth themselves. We’d love to have your youth join us sometime on a Sunday, from 10-11:15 in the Chapel.

At LWUMC we believe that we are all beloved children of God and acknowledge that God’s love is unconditional and never-ending. Our children’s programming is designed to incorporate the arts – music, Bible storytelling, puppetry, graphic arts, etc. – to help children experience the love of God in fellowship with those around them while giving them the opportunity to use their gifts to share that love with each other and the congregation.
We acknowledge that we are each a part of God’s wonderous creation. Our time planting and harvesting in the community gardens on the church lawn gives us an opportunity to explore the interconnectedness of life, to experience God’s love through nature, and to begin doing our part to care for the earth and all of its creatures.
We believe that children are not simply the church of tomorrow; they are valued members of the church today. As such, we encourage their active participation and leadership in worship, service, and community events.
Our Sunday morning children’s programming begins at 9:00 in the children’s suite and continues during worship in the sanctuary at 10:00. We follow UMC Safe Sanctuaries guidelines.
